HCMC – The Consulate General of Italy in HCMC today, June 2, held a ceremony to celebrate the 77th National Day of the Italian Republic.
The ceremony also incorporated an exhibition with the theme: “Italy and Vietnam: 50 years of friendship and cooperation”, recreating images of political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, social and scientific events of most significance in the relationship between the two countries.
Consul General of Italy in HCMC Enrico Padula said over the past 50 years, Vietnam and Italy have strongly developed not only in the diplomatic and political fields, but also in the economic, cultural and social fields. In the economic and trade sector, the Italian Consulate General will continue to promote its leading fields, from fashion to cuisine, along with machinery, pharmaceutical and electronic fields.
Speaking at the event, Vo Van Hoan, vice chairman of HCMC, sent warm greetings to the consul general and his spouse, and to all Italian citizens living and working in HCMC. Hoan stressed that since the two countries officially established diplomatic relations on March 23, 1973, the comprehensive relationship had been strengthened. At present, both Vietnam and Italy have achieved many important results, especially in the sectors of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism. The two countries reached US$591 million in 2022 bilateral trade.
It is expected that in October this year, the leaders of HCMC will visit Italy to concretize the cooperation between Vietnam and Italy to develop stronger and more comprehensive.
