HCMC – Work commenced this morning, June 29, on a 26.6-km section of Beltway No. 3 passing through Binh Duong Province, with a total investment of VND19,280 billion.

This section follows the recent execution of two components passing through HCMC and Dong Nai Province, totaling 58 kilometers in length, which began on June 18. The Tan Van interchange covers 2.7 kilometers, while the Binh Chuan-Saigon River and My Phuoc-Tan Van routes span 8.9 kilometers and 15.3 kilometers, respectively.

The section of Beltway No. 3 passing through Binh Duong is designed to the standards of an expressway with frontage roads on both sides. In the initial phase, the route will feature four lanes for vehicles and will be upgraded to eight lanes upon completion.

Vice Chairman of Binh Duong People’s Committee Duong Hung Dung emphasized the project’s significant importance in the local socio-economic development plan. The project will divert traffic away from urban areas and provide growth opportunities for neighboring localities such as Thu Dau Mot, Di An, and Thuan An.

With a total investment of VND75,400 billion, the HCMC Beltway No. 3 project holds the record for the highest investment capital among traffic infrastructure projects in southern Vietnam. The project with eight components spanning HCMC, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Long An provinces, will see each locality responsible for two components, including site clearance and construction.

Upon completion, the beltway, along with the Ben Luc Expressway, will form a traffic axis surrounding HCMC, reducing the number of vehicles passing through the city center.

The entire route is expected to be completed by 2026, creating development opportunities for industrial corridors, connecting various seaport clusters, reducing travel time and logistics costs. The project is set to foster regional linkages and enhance the development of the southern key regions.
