HCMC – Local authorities of Vietnam and China have agreed to explore the potential for strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade and tourism through the two countries’ border gates.
This statement was made during the visit of a Chinese delegation from Dongxing and Fangchenggang cities in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to Vietnam’s Quang Ninh Province on August 30. The trip took place in celebration of the 78th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2.
Ho Quang Huy, chairman of the People’s Committee of Mong Cai City in Quang Ninh, lauded the remarkable achievements in the traditional partnership between Vietnam and China.
He suggested that local authorities increase their efforts to promote economic cooperation and attract investments between the two countries, emphasizing the need to eliminate trade obstacles for Vietnamese and Chinese businesses.
Huy also urged the resumption of tourism operations and improvements in the quality of tourist activities.
Chinese officials expressed their determination to strengthen the longstanding relationship and cooperation between Mong Cai, Dongxing, and Fangcheng. They voiced their hopes for the consolidation and further growth of the partnership between these areas.
The Mong Cai-Dongxing international border gate pair has witnessed a surge in trading activities, thanks to improvements in economic conditions post-pandemic.
In the year to June 15, trade revenues via the border gate had amounted to US$1.46 billion, an 8.34% year-on-year increase.
