HCMC – As part of the North-South Expressway project, two expressways connecting the north-central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will be provisionally opened to traffic on September 1.

The National Highway 45-Nghi Son and Nghi Son-Dien Chau expressways will help meet the travel demand during the National Day holiday and reduce the travel time between the two provinces to 1.5 hours.

The travel time between Hanoi and Nghe An will also be reduced to 3.5 hours.

In addition, the remaining 9.7-kilometer-long section of the Mai Son-National Highway 45 Expressway in Thanh Hoa Province will also become operational tomorrow.

The completion of these three sections will contribute to creating a highway route with a total length of 251 kilometers, connecting Phap Van in Hanoi to Nghe An Province.

Currently, road tolls have not applied on these new expressways.

During the temporary operation period, these expressway sections are designated for private cars, passenger cars, and trucks weighing 10 tons or less. Vehicles using these sections are allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

The National Highway 45-Nghi Son Expressway spans around 43 kilometers and requires an investment of VND5.5 trillion. In its initial phase, the expressway will feature four lanes with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, the 50-kilometer Nghi Son-Dien Chau Expressway requires an investment of over VND7.2 trillion.
