Coast guards nab ship allegedly smuggling 80,000 liters of diesel oil

HCMC – Vietnam Coast Guard Region 3 has apprehended a ship registered in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang on suspicion of transporting 80,000 liters of smuggled diesel oil.
The vessel, bearing the registration number TG 90297-TS, has been directed to a military port in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on October 25 for investigation.
The Vietnam Coast Guard force initially intercepted the ship about 120 nautical miles from eastern Con Dao Island off Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province on October 24.
The ship’s captain, identified as N.V.B., a resident of Tien Giang Province, admitted to transporting the oil but failed to provide documents on the origin of the fuel discovered on his vessel.
The case is currently under investigation.
Since the beginning of the year, coast guards have detected numerous ships transporting oil of unknown origin.
