Mekong Delta
In this tour, you will explore special sights such as back roads and waterways of “coconuts area”- Ben Tre province- where located about 87 km from the economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City. Coming to Be Tre, you will experience Delta region’s daily life while discovering orchards, farms and fisheries and other cottage industries including “hutieu” (rice noodles), brick making, and coconut processing. You will have a chance to travel as a local by bike, by boat or on the back of xeloi- a special and multi-purpose vehicle in Ben Tre. A day trip to explore Ben Tre is not long but it is enough for you to understand more about daily life of residents in Delta region.
Highlights:
From busy pace of life of Ho Chi Minh City, you will start your trip at 8.30 am to be ready for interesting journey of Mekong Delta local life. From the back of “xe lôi”, you will be driven through coconut trees rice paddies and fruit farms turn back to a boat in a canal. You will begin a journey “Mango Cruise” to get an overview of the Delta while enjoying coconut juice during the trip. When stopping at a brick workshop, you will witness traditional brick-making techniques through skilled hands of the locals. When returning the boat, you will continue your trip by crossing An Hoa river. Then, a new journey with 4 km riding bicycle will start to explore Phong Nam village. You will be lead to a local house to study coconut processing and the way parts of the coconut are processed. In addition, you could learn noodle making process when going to a famous rice noodle factory- “hutieu”. You also have chance to explore magic, mysterious canals system by taking a sampan, an experience which cannot be found by using other large vessels. The next stop in “Mango Cruise” trip is Mango Home Stay restaurant. Here, you will enjoy 5 delicious Vietnamese courses. After having lunch, you will go across green gardens to get to Mr SauTuong’s house. He is a former Vietcong soldier in Phnom Penh. You will not only chat with him but also enjoy crispy rice paper- the most famous specialty of My Long village. You will continue visit Mr Hung’s house- who is famous for making sticky rice to feed his catfish as well as visit his fruit garden. You will come back Ho Chi Minh City from a small pier in Ben Tre city in the late afternoon.
