HCMC – HCMC authorities have inaugurated a frontage road in parallel with HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, helping to relieve the pressure on the expressway.

The frontage road, which began construction in 2017 under the build-transfer format, was opened to traffic yesterday, September 17. The 4-km road features four lanes for vehicles and has two sections.

The first section between Mai Chi Tho Avenue and Do Xuan Hop Street is 3.2 kilometers long. The 700-m remaining section starts from Do Xuan Hop Street to Beltway No. 2.

The route has two newly-built bridges.

According to Phan Cong Bang, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Transport, the new road will facilitate the traffic movement of local residents during the execution of the multi-level An Phu interchange and contributes to boosting work on the project.

Additionally, the frontage road will help to reduce traffic congestion which usually occurs on the access road to the expressway and provide easy access to the roads from othe areas such as Nguyen Thi Dinh, Do Xuan Hop, Mai Chi Tho and Beltway No. 2.

For the remaining 700 meters of the frontage road, the Department of Transport requests relevant departments and authorities to support investors in removing hindrances so that the entire route could be completed and put into operation by 2025.
