HCMC – The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has forecast southern Vietnam would see downpours between August 16 and 20.

The region would see widespread showers, with rainfalls between 150 and 200 millimeters. In some regions, rainfalls might be beyond 200 millimeters.

Heavy rain would cause floods in low-lying and urban areas. Thunderstorms are likely to roll in, bringing along lightning, hail, and powerful wind gusts.

The ultraviolet (UV) index is at risky levels throughout the southern region, including HCMC, especially from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center reported that rain would gradually rise starting today, August 14, mostly in afternoon and evening hours.

Coastal provinces in the southeastern part of the country and the eastern region are expected to receive rainfalls from 80 to 150 millimeters, with localized accumulations possibly exceeding 150 millimeters.
