HCMC – Construction work on social infrastructure facilities as part of the Long Thanh International Airport project has resumed and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

These facilities include five schools and one cultural house.

The Loc An-Binh Son resettlement area was established to accommodate residents affected by the Long Thanh International Airport project. Construction work was planned to be executed from 2017 to 2021. After 2011, the available funding could not be disbursed to the project as the duration for project implementation has expired.

To overcome this obstacle, the authorities in Dong Nai recently proposed an advance of over VND100 billion from the central budget to expedite the construction of social infrastructure facilities in the Loc An-Binh Son resettlement area.

The resettlement area consists of 11 social projects with a total investment of over VND400 billion. Construction work began in 2020 and 2021, with the original plan to complete all projects in 2022. However, by the end of last year, only three out of the eleven projects were completed, and the rest faced delays due to the incompetence of contractors. Consequently, contracts with the previous contractors were terminated in late 2022, and new contractors were appointed in April of this year.

The Loc An-Binh Son resettlement area is currently home to thousands of residents, and the delay in constructing social facilities, particularly schools, has had a negative impact on the residents and their children.

Covering an area of 280 hectares, the resettlement area is being developed by the Dong Nai Construction Investment Management Board.
