Kylin and dragon dance in Full-Moon Festival

The kylin and dragon dance, lantern parade and mooncake eating are unique cultural features, creating a vibrant, exciting atmosphere, imbued with traditional values during the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the key traditional festive occasions in Vietnam, taking place in the middle of the eighth lunar month every year. This year, the festival, known as the Full-Moon Festival, falls on September 28 and 29.

The kylin and dragon dance is a desirable, identifying tradition found in the Cho Lon quarter (in districts 5, 6 and 11) where many generations of Chinese people reside. The dance is known for providing good omens, luck and peace to people.

Most recently, HCMC has promoted the “Visiting the Cho Lon quarter to watch the kylin and dragon dance” program, which is held monthly as a tourism product, attracting both local and foreign guests.
