HCMC – Heavy rains caused a serious landslide on the Hai Van Pass in Danang City this afternoon, October 13, prompting the local authorities to prohibit all vehicles from using the pass for safety reasons.
The authority of Lien Chieu District reported that a large mass of rock, soil, and mud tumbled down from the hilltop to part of the road on the Hai Van Pass, disrupting traffic.
The area also experienced a landslide in October 2022.
Upon receiving information about the landslide on the Hai Van Pass, the local authorities sent forces to divert traffic and prohibit people and vehicles from passing through the pass.
Danang City is currently experiencing heavy rain due to the influence of cold air and a convergence zone, causing flooding in several provinces.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicted that heavy rains will continue in Danang until October 15, with rainfall ranging from 200 millimeters to 350 millimeters, and exceeding 700 millimeters in some areas.
Non-boarding students were allowed to have the afternoon off today to ensure safety during heavy rains and floods.
