HCMC – A low pressure in the East Sea is expected to strengthen into a tropical depression, bringing heavy rain to the north-central and northern regions over the next few days.
As of this morning, October 16, the center of the low pressure was spotted south of the Hoang Sa Islands (Paracels) off Danang’s coast, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
This low-pressure area is likely to develop into a tropical depression as it is moving west-northwest during the day.
Due to the influence of this low-pressure system, moderate to heavy rains are expected in the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri from October 16 to October 18.
The provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Danang, Quang Ngai, and Quang Nam will experience heavy rain, with total rainfalls ranging from 150 to 300 millimeters and exceeding 450 millimeters in some areas.
The northern region, Central Highlands, and south-central Vietnam will also be affected, with heavy rain in some areas.
There will be widespread moderate showers and heavy thunderstorms along the country’s coastline.
The northern part of the East Sea and the southern part of the Gulf of Tonkin are forecast to have strong winds at level 6, gusting at levels 7-8.
