HCMC – The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Remedies Authority has initiated an anti-dumping investigation of prestressed steel cable products that fall under HS codes 7312.10.91 and 7312.10.99 from Malaysia, Thailand, and China.
The investigation stems from a petition made by domestic manufacturers on August 9, 2022, alleging that these imported products are being sold at below fair prices, causing injury to Vietnam’s own prestressed steel cable manufacturing industry.
As part of the investigation process, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will send out questionnaires to gather information from the relevant parties to analyze the allegations and evaluate the pricing practices of the investigated companies.
This examination will determine whether these practices injure the domestic manufacturing industry and establish a cause-and-effect relationship between the anti-competitive pricing and the hindrance of industry development in Vietnam.
To ensure the accuracy of the investigation findings, the ministry will conduct verification and cross-check the information provided by the concerned parties. Public consultations will also be organized to facilitate open discussions and information exchange among the relevant stakeholders before reaching a final conclusion on the matter.
In accordance with the Foreign Trade Management Law, if necessary, the ministry may impose temporary anti-dumping measures based on the preliminary investigation results.
To safeguard their rights and interests, all organizations and individuals involved in the import, distribution, trade, or use of the investigated goods are advised to register as interested parties and provide necessary information as required by the law.
