HCMC – PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation, or PV Gas, is set to take delivery of its inaugural liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment at the Thi Vai LNG Terminal in Ba Ria-Vung Tau on July 10, a significant milestone in Vietnam’s green transition aspirations.
Pham Van Phong, CEO of PV GAS, announced that the Maran Gas Achilles vessel will deliver nearly 70,000 tons of LNG from the Bontang Port in Indonesia to the Thi Vai LNG Terminal.
Shell PLC, one of the world’s leading LNG shipping operators, is the supplier of this shipment.
The arrival of this shipment holds great importance for PV GAS and the gas industry in Vietnam, signifying a crucial stride towards ensuring a cleaner energy supply for the country, particularly following the approval of power development plan VIII.
PV GAS has set its sights on becoming the primary LNG supplier in the Vietnamese market, encompassing LNG infrastructure management, business, and operations.
The company is dedicated to enhancing LNG infrastructure, including expanding the Thi Vai LNG terminal in the southeastern region, constructing the Son My-Binh Thuan terminal, and conducting feasibility studies to determine locations for LNG terminals in the northern and southwestern regions.
