Storms forecast to hit Vietnam in July

HCMC – One or two typhoons and tropical depressions may develop in or enter the East Sea during July, potentially affecting the northern and central regions of Vietnam, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

In addition, the north-central, northern midlands, and central regions are expected to experience more hot days than in previous years. Heatwaves are projected to intensify from July 10 to 15, lasting longer in the northern and central coastal areas.

Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and southern regions can anticipate frequent rain and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. Heavy thunderstorms and rainfall are likely to occur in the late afternoon.

The average temperature in July is predicted to be around 0.5 degree Celsius higher than the average in recent years. In the northern and northern central regions, temperatures may rise by 0.5-1 degree Celsius.

To prepare for these weather conditions, on July 1, the prime minister directed local authorities to strengthen measures to prevent natural disasters such as landslides and floods.

Authorities were also instructed to conduct inspections of construction sites, especially those located in residential areas near rivers, streams, canals, and slopes.
