Two major airports receive 1.2 million passengers on holiday

HCMC – Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai, Vietnam’s two largest airports, handled an estimated 1.2 million passengers during the public holiday from April 29 to May 3, far higher than last year.
The Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi saw nearly 2,700 flights with around 422,000 passengers during the long holiday which consisted of the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1), according to the Northern Airports Authority.
Compared to the same period last year, there was little change in domestic flights and passengers, but the numbers of international flights and passengers increased by 86% and 299%, respectively.
On May 3, the final day of the national holiday, Noi Bai served an estimated 92,000 passengers on 561 flights, including 64,200 domestic passengers and more than 28,000 international passengers.
The Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC handled 4,466 flights, up 18%, while passenger arrivals totaled around 756,000, with 500,195 of them locals and the remainder foreigners.
The number of passengers arriving at this airport during the five-day period surged by nearly 33% year-on-year.
