HCMC – The construction of Long Thanh International Airport’s passenger terminal and Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s T3 terminal is scheduled to begin this weekend, August 26, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

The Long Thanh airport terminal requires a total investment of VND35 trillion. With an area of 150 hectares, the terminal consists of a ground floor and three upper floors.

Along with the terminal construction, work on the 4,000-meter-long runway, taxiways, and other auxiliary structures will also start this weekend.

Currently, the contractor winning the bid for the terminal construction has yet to be announced. However, among the three contractors submitting their bids, only the Turkish firm-led consortium meets the technical requirements, according to the ACV.

The terminal is expected to be operational in 2026.

ACV will also start work on the Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s T3 terminal, a multi-story parking facility combined with non-aviation services, and a front apron system, on August 26.

With a total investment of VND10.99 trillion, the project is set to be completed within 20 months and put into operation in the second quarter of 2025.

The passenger terminal section comprises a basement level and four above-ground levels, with a total floor area of 112,500 square meters.

Once completed, it would be able to handle 20 million passengers a year.
