HCMC – Work on the VND8-trillion Dai Ngai Bridge, connecting the Mekong Delta provinces of Soc Trang and Tra Vinh, commenced this morning, October 15, according to the local authority.
The Dai Ngai Bridge is located on National Highway 60, with a total length of 15.1 kilometers. It will cross the Hau River, helping to shorten the distance from HCMC to three Mekong Delta provinces — Soc Trang, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau by 80 kilometers.
The project, which will comprise the Dai Ngai 1 and 2 bridges, will have four lanes and allow a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour. It runs from an intersection with National Highway 54 in Tra Vinh Province’s Tieu Can District and ends at an intersection with Nam Song Hau Road in Soc Trang Province.
The project, implemented by the Project Management Board 85 of the Ministry of Transport, has a total investment of VND8 trillion, sourced from the State budget.
The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
This is the third cable-stayed bridge to cross the Hau River, following the Can Tho Bridge and Vam Cong Bridge.
Upon completion, it is expected to reduce transportation costs, alleviate traffic congestion on National Highway 1, improve connectivity in the Mekong Delta, and help ensure national defense and security of the southern coastal region.
